Leigh Sansone, CPDT-KA
(Certified Professional Dog Trainer), PMCT (Pat Miller Certified Trainer), CGC (AKC Canine Good
Citizen Evaluator), of Ruff Customers Dog Training™, is the thinking
person's dog trainer. A lawyer by training, Leigh applied the research skills she honed as a
Manhattan litigator to learning the most effective, modern, and humane methods of dog training and
behavior modification. She has studied with ground breaking, world-renowned dog trainers and
behavior consultants such as Sue
Sternberg, Pia
Silvani, CPDT-KA, and Pat Miller, CPDT-KA, CDBC. A full-time dog trainer, Leigh teaches daily obedience
classes for puppies and older dogs and works privately with dogs having fear and aggression-related
behavior issues. Leigh has twin goals: first, to educate dogs and their people while making the
learning process enjoyable; and second, to debunk the all-too-prevalent, outdated mythology
regarding dog behavior and punishment-based training methods. This year, Leigh received the great
honor of being recognized for her dog training skills by the Association of Professional Dog
Trainers (APDT) in a book, Top Tips
from Top Trainers, which was published in March 2010. Top Tips
is a comprehensive dog training book compiling behavior and training tips, secrets for teaching great tricks,
and more, as told by the APDT's leading dog trainers and behavior consultants. You can purchase this useful book at
All Things Dog! .
Leigh has one dog, named "Miss
Alabama" in honor of Leigh's southern roots. Allie is a five-and-a-half year old 60-pound mixed
breed. Allie likes eating meat, chasing squirrels, and long walks on the beach. And, she actually
earns her keep, helping Leigh work with dog-aggressive dogs to teach them dog body language and
communication skills. NO, Allie is not perfect, but she does get trained and treated a lot in
Leigh's spare time.
Training should be fun for you AND your dog. With Ruff Customers it is!
And, best of all, fun, positive training ultimately results in a gratifying lifetime relationship
between people and their canine companions. |
